 I just watched an old episode of "Nasa's Unexplained Files".  There was a story about an astronaut orbiting Earth solo in his space capsule.  Out of a relative calm, the astronaut heard loud banging on his vehicle!  The striking of the capsule's metallic surface from some unknown source went on for a small amount of time and severely frightened the astronaut who called out for a reply to whatever was responsible for this racket.  Seems pretty incredible but the astronaut was convinced that he had some manner of lifeform shadowing his mission and as a consequence, messing with his head, Big Time!  Eventually, the outer hull racket abated and no answers were to be had of who this potential intruder was, but, HOW CREEPY!!!! Was the space capsule being used as an Experimental Musical Instrument?  An Orbital Drum, if you will?  We can only speculate....

THE ANARCHESTRA - MADE UP INSTRUMENTS!

I think this video is well worth taking the time to watch.  We see the workshop and ultimate completed instruments created by Andy Thurlow.  He has called this assemblage of new sonic toys, The Anarchestra.  Furlow has designed stringed instruments, "tuned" and otherwise percussive platforms and some never before imagined music/noise makers.  Very awesome. 

KING CRIMSON JAM 1973

This is a video of King Crimson improvising live in Bremen in 1973.  King Crimson, in its original run, blended a diversity of musical styles in their playing.  A wild variation of instruments are utilized here.  In addition to guitar, bass and drums, flourishes of flute, violin, mellotron and percussion are injected.  An interesting noise results.  The players include Robert Fripp, John Wetton, David Cross, Bill Bruford and percussion whirlwind, Jamie Muir.  It is nice that a lot of these performances were recorded as the band's personnel could shift quite quickly.

African Bottlecap Rattle

This a short video of an African rattle that is constructed of some wood, wire and flattened bottle caps!  A nice, dry jingle is produced by this simple percussion instrument.  Imagine if you had about twenty of these little beauties rattling away! The gentle sound one of these instruments produces is akin to a small rain stick.  Very soothing, really.

Syd's Ghost - Proposed Title
